My Take on Common Sense

Friends, Americans, Patriots-

I ask one simple question. What about the Constitution? Has this most noble of founding documents which was borne of the the blood sweat and tears of thousands of Patriots, which was conceived by some of the greatest thinkers this great nation has ever known, and which has stood the test of time through countless hardships and attempts to destroy the very liberty which it was designed to ensure become obsolete or irrelevant? I don't believe that it has. Any attempt to downplay or rationalize actions taken by our elected officials which are in direct conflict with the very explicit language of our Constitution is both irresponsible and uneducated. I would even go as far as to say that it is treasonous. The day to day political issues which the media hypes as "life or death" and "if we don't get it done now we may never get it done" are irrelevant when speaking of the outright assault on our Constitution and the liberty which the rest of the world covets so desperately. They are no more than smoke and mirrors. They serve no purpose beyond stimulating a strong emotional response. Most of the issues that are "important" enough to be labeled a "crisis" are very fleeting and usually turn out to be trivial in retrospect. The lion's share of our "elected politicians" couldn't fill a thimble with the integrity they show in their voting records. It doesn't matter the party affiliation because most of them are in the back pockets of one or several special interest groups. I believe that we need a "changing of the guard". We need elected officials who understand that a government with too much power and reach is a truly dangerous thing. It is a short road to the loss of all of our freedoms when we become complacent or mesmerized by the haunting melody of a chant for "change". Change that seems outwardly positive but essentially tears down the foundation and the time tested principles to which the greatest nation in history has been steadfastly anchored and which have not ever failed those who are promised freedom therein. The only "tax" to be paid for success in a truly free nation is paid in a currency called "hard work and perseverance".

God Bless us all and this Great Nation as well
